About Forest Angels

Population management

The stray animal problems in and around Istanbul are big. To feed the enormous amount of stray dogs we need at least 35 large bags of dogfood per day.

To ensure that the current stray dog population does not increase any further, we also spay and neuter dogs. The dogs that have been spayed or neutered wear an eartag for easy identification. Spaying and neutering has been proven to be the only effective way to decrease the size of the stray dog population.

Fundraising

The volunteers of Forest Angels work year round to help the stray dogs in the forests surrounding Istanbul. To buy all the necessary materials and food and to provide medical care, your donations and support are crucial. It’s a challenge every day to ensure all the dogs are in good health. Often people dump their sick animals in the forests, putting the current stray dog population at risk for diseases.

We are very fortunate that there are good people who support Forest Angels and let us use their properties to build shelters and to care for the stray dogs. However, there is never enough food for all the dogs, so we need your help.

Orman Meleği Haber (Forest Angels)

Forest Angels was founded to provide financial support to the dedicated volunteers who work year round to help the stray dogs in the forests surrounding Istanbul. These wonderful people work day and night to collect materials to build dog shelters, to feed the dogs and to make sure sick or wounded dogs get the medical care they need.
